Meagher stresses support for veterans in DNC remarks

The former Interior Department CIO and 2005 Federal 100 winner stressed the importance of supporting veterans as they return from war.

In one media outlet's lineup for Wednesday night's Democratic National Convention, the description was "Regular person Ed Meagher." But as longtime FCW readers know, Meagher is anything but ordinary.

Meagher, a longtime federal executive and Air Force veteran, spoke to convention delegates about his work with veterans returning from the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan -- the same efforts that earned him Federal Computer Week's 2005 Eagle Award, given to the best of the Federal 100.

A former Interior Department CIO, Meagher also served as deputy CIO and chief technology officer at Veteran Affairs. Since his retirement from Interior in 2008, Meagher has worked for CSC and for SRA International, where he is now vice president of that firms health group.
