GSA names Dorothy Robyn to head buildings service
New division leader comes from Defense Department, where she oversaw base closure activities.
A Defense Department official has been tapped to serve as General Services Administration’s new commissioner for the Public Buildings Service.
Dorothy Robyn was named to the role Sept. 4. She previously oversaw the controversial Defense Base Closure and Realignment process and served as deputy undersecretary of defense for installations and environment.
Before her government career, Robyn was a principal with The Brattle Group, an economic consulting firm that focuses on competition and antitrust, energy and the environment. Prior to that, she served on the White House staff as special assistant to the president for economic policy and as senior staff member of the White House National Economic Council.
Robyn replaces Linda Chero, who took on an acting role in April when then-PBS Commissioner Robert Peck was fired for his involvement in the conference-spending scandal.
Citing an internal memo from GSA Acting Administrator Dan Tangherlini, The Washington Post reports that Tangherlini expressed intent to get rid of PBS board of directors to crystallize Robyn’s authority and responsibility.
