MONDAY, SEPT. 17:
A U.S. Census Bureau web conference will preview the Sept. 20 release of the 2011 American Community Survey estimates. The ACS was targeted for defunding in the House's fiscal 2013 appropriations bill for the Commerce Department and related agencies, but as Commerce’s inspector general recently wrote to Congress (http://www.oig.doc.gov/OIGPublications/OIG-12-033-M.pdf), a wide range of federal programs “rely on ACS data to evaluate program impacts and distribute formula grants.”

TUESDAY, SEPT. 18:
The Government Big Data Conference kicks off two days of sessions on the direction of big data research and development across the Federal Government. Speakers include McKinsey and Company’s Eric Braverman, NASA’s Dr. Sasi Pillay and others.

The House Science, Space and Technology Committee will hold a hearing on "The Impact of International Technology Transfer on American Research and Development."
