LightSquared/GPS Industry Face Off Wednesday

The battle over whether or not the 40,000 cell-tower network planned by start-up LightSquared poses a threat to GPS will get up close and personal tomorrow, when all the key players press their respective cases at a federal navigation board meeting.

The National Space-Based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing Advisory Board is holding a routine meeting on a bunch of techie topics tomorrow at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Alexandria, Va.

The gathering may break from the routine at 2:15 p.m., during the session on "Testing, Analyses, & Proposed Solutions for LightSquared (LS2) Effects on GPS Infrastructure & User Applications," featuring a cast of LightSquared and GPS execs in the latest act of a drama that has evolved from a complex technical question into a political football.

We'll be on the scene to cover it.
