No Cartwright Nomination

Well, I was wrong. The Pentagon press briefing today had nothing to do with nominating Marine Gen. James Cartwright, the vice chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, as the next chairman.

Chalk my earlier prediction up to my jarhead roots and hopes that another Marine (after Gen. Peter Pace, who held the post from 2005-07) will get the top military job.

I still think Cartwright will eventually land it.

This item has been corrected to clarify that Marine Pace previously held the chairmanship.
