Save Air Force $$$, Take Out Your Own Trash

That's the message from Col. Sal Nodjomian, 96th Air Base Wing commander at Eglin Air Force Base, Fla, according a story today on the Pensacola News Journal website.

The base was looking at a $6 million budget shortfall, the Journal reported, so it cut back several several services, including its custodial contract, which included trash pickup. Nodjomian opted for a do-it-yourself approach to trash.

"There's not a single person I know on Eglin that doesn't take his or her own trash out at home, so this isn't that big a departure from what we all do on a daily basis," Nodjomian old the Journal.

Just think of the untold millions that could be saved if this policy was adopted throughout the Defense Department.
