Teeing Off On The Navy's Dime

Northrop Grumman Corp. billed the Navy for $206,000 for "questionable travel expenses" on its $1.9 billion Broad Area Maritime Surveillance contract, including golf outings and trips to air shows in Washington, Paris and Singapore, the Defense Department Inspector General reported last month.

Not only that, but since BAMS is a cost-plus-award fee contract, Northrop billed award fees for its travel, which the IG questioned "because it is difficult to evaluate the contractor's performance on travel."

The Navy clawed back $206,000 from Northrop Grumman for questionable travel expenses, including the golf outing, the IG said. I imagine in the future the company will tee off on its own dime.
