In the news: U.K.health bill would include funds for IT

The United Kingdom's government will consider legislation to provide more IT investment, eHealth Insider reports.

The United Kingdom's government will soon introduce a bill in parliament that calls for more information technology investment, new information services for the public, and the first ever National Health Service written constitution, . That constitution would detail the principles and values of the NHS, while also spelling out the rights and responsibilities of the public, such as people being able to access their own health records and choose their own general practitioner. Other proposed rights include NHS patients being able to seek treatment anywhere in Europe, which would require new information portals and possible patient records to be created, eHealth Insider said.
