FCW Insider: An update on FISMAgate

In this space yesterday, I reported that a GSA official had said the next administration's political appointees would have to wait 30 to 60 days to get access to computers due to requirements of FISMA.

In response to a reporter's query, GSA explained that the issue is HSPD-12. It takes 30 to 60 days for an individual to receive an HSPD-12 clearance, which is required to gain access to government IT resources.

Fair enough. But again, I have to wonder how well that next administration will countenance such a delay. As Matthew Weigelt pointed out, that is long time to go without a Blackberry.
