Letter: Game developers already have access to NASA experts

A reader writes that potential contractors lost interest in NASA's online game project when the agency withdrew funding for development.

Regarding "NASA: Developers should pay for online game": It was NASA's original mention of $3 million in funding for a massively multiplayer online game that interested the companies I talked with, not access to NASA subject experts — they already can get that with a phone call.

Once NASA eliminated funding for the game part (leaving $2 million for NASA subject experts), most people left the NASA meeting and all my potential partners pulled out. Designing an A-list MMO for NASA for $3 million is an exciting challenge. Expecting us to use NASA's specs but our own money is simply folly.
