VA Names Stephen Warren Full Time CIO

Department leaves the assistant secretary position vacant.

The Veterans Affairs Department has removed the “acting” from the chief information officer title Stephen Warren has held since March and provided him with the long moniker of “Executive in Charge, Office of Information and Technology and Chief Information Office.”

Warren, a civil servant with Senior Executive Service stripes and experience as deputy assistant secretary for OIT, took on the acting title when CIO Roger Baker retired. Warren has reached the 210 day shelf limit anyone can serve without Senate nomination and confirmation under the Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998

This leaves the OIT assistant secretary slot still vacant, though I know a whole bunch of folks have applied for the job, with little action to select and nominate a replacement for Baker.
