Time Is Essential, Apparently

Navy and NIST continue to provide the time during shutdown.

The U.S. Naval Observatory still pumps out time checks on the Internet despite the government shutdown, probably because it relies on a super atomic clock.

NIST says it will also continue to provide Internet time service during the shutdown, but I was unable to reach sites listed by the agency.

The NIST WWV shortwave radio station in Ft. Collins, Colo., continues to broadcast time signals and pulses on 2.5, 5, 10, 15 and 20 Mhz, as it has every day since 1966, proving that owning a good radio is not a bad idea.
