Dear Ted Cruz, Please Join Me on the Bataan Memorial Death March

The Senator from Texas compared his filibuster to the 1942 tragedy.

Somewhere in his 21 hour blabbathon this week, Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, compared his performance to the 1942 Bataan Death March in the Philippines which resulted in the deaths of up to 11,000 American and Filipino troops.

That tragedy is commemorated every year at White Sands Missile Range, N.M., and I invite Ted to join me for the 25th Annual Bataan Memorial  Death March on March 23, 2014 --  a slog in the desert far tougher than Senate speechifying.

A handful of survivors of the 1942 March show up every year, and I’m sure they will be delighted to share experiences with Ted.

Next year marks my fifth Memorial March, which comes six weeks after my 70th birthday, and I look forward to seeing how Ted does in the famed mile-long sandpit at the Range.  I plan to let him eat my dust.
