Special Ops Command Wants a Gadget to Take Over AM and FM Radio Bands

Influencing the population this way could prove tricky.

The Special Operations Command wants to buy a radio broadcast system capable of searching for and acquiring every AM and FM radio station in a specific area, and then broadcast messages in the target area on all acquired AM and FM radio station frequencies.

This is part of the command’s psychological warfare mission -- blandly renamed Military Information Support Operations in 2010 -- and I imagine the command wants to use the AM-FM broadcast gear to pump out population influencing messages to a target audience.

SOCOM should not try to do this during the soccer World Cup.
