The Upside of Furlough Days

No one likes less money in their paycheck, but based on a number of calls I made today to Defense Department public affairs shops, smart folks parlayed mandatory furlough days, which clicked in this month into a really long July 4^th weekend.

The 4^th fell on Thursday, take one day of leave on Friday and a furlough day today, and you end up with a five day weekend -- not a bad bargain for people who value time off more than money.

And, remember, the only thing you can’t buy with money is time.
