I’m picking up medium strength signals that at least one high ranking Military Health System official has her eyes on the Veterans Affairs Department Chief Information Officer job that current VA CIO Roger Baker plans to vacate real soon.
I also hear that a former top MHS official known for relentless ambition also plans to campaign for the VA CIO slot.
And, as of yesterday, there’s another job also open for tech whizzes at VA, as Chief Technology Officer Peter Levin turned in his resignation.
VA needs to fill these slots fast to meet Secretary Eric Shinseki’s plans to use technology to cut the disability claims backlog, which stood at 899,242 as of Feb. 11, down to zero by 2015.
