At least a dozen vendors have submitted bids for the Defense Information Systems Agency’s mobile device management (MDM) system and enterprise mobile application store contract, due for award by April, John Hickey, told a Pentagon press briefing that detailed Defense Department mobile deployment plans.
The field includes a bunch of start up companies -- such as Airwatch, which supplies similar services to the Veterans Affairs Department, and MobileIron -- along with long-established companies such as IBM, AT&T and Symantec.
I’m sure that more than one systems integrator has also submitted a bid, partnered with an MDM software company.
