Hurricanes and Elections

The response to Sandy is unprecedented in this reporter’s experience.

I have covered the federal response to disasters for 25 years, and I have never seen such a focus on a hurricane as on the current one.

My inbox overflows with alerts about Hurricane Sandy followed by invites to press briefings.

There is nothing like an impending election, it seems, to focus the collective mind of the Executive Branch.

I guess we could call this post-Katrina syndrome.
