The Army plans to approve a tablet-type gizmo for use within a week, Lt. Gen. Susan Lawrence told reporters at the LandWarNet conference in Tampa, Fla., Wednesday.
Lawrence declined to identify what company will provide the gadget, but indicated it was not the iPad from Apple but rather an "iPad-like" tablet.
The new A-Pad, she did disclose, will support the use of common access cards needed for network access and include built-in security, so I'm betting the new tablet will run on the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, which supports the cards and security.
