Sen. John McCain , R-Ariz., read my entire story on the earmarks Adara Networks had received from Sen. Thad Cochran, R-Miss., for work on Military Health System information technology projects. He then called on the Senate floor for a full investigation of those contracts, something the Defense Department inspector general is doing.
McCain, who has campaigned against earmarks since election to the Senate in 1986, also used his Senate floor remarks to bash the $2.8 billion in earmarks in the House version of the fiscal 2010 Defense appropriations bill passed on July 30.
McCain said that the House marked up that bill - and the $2.8 billion in earmarks - in just 18 minutes.
It's good to know the House spends so much time working through the intricacies of spending our money.
