Foreign dot-gov sites found riddled with malware

Government (Foreign)

Hackers have broken into a number of government URLs around the world to host illegitimate webpages.

For example, one of Taiwan’s domains has hosted a “Hacked by…” page indicating the site has been “owned,” or commandeered by an attacker.

One image on the page actually is a Flash media file hosted on a Russian server that is known to serve malware.

In a different compromise, a Ukrainian government site was replaced with a Google Drive “phishing” page that prompted users to enter their Google credentials to access files.
