Canada Research Agency Goes Offline to Contain Chinese Infection

Breach could have deeper implications.

The Canadian government’s National Research Council has turned off its computers to contain an intrusion thought to be the work of Chinese hackers, CTV News reports.

The perpetrators had been trying to navigate NRC’s network for the past month.

The situation could affect more than the one agency because the government has shifted 43 departments to a shared data service system.
