GlobalPost’s online presence defaced by the Syrian Electronic Army

The pro-regime hacktivists apparently disliked the U.S.-based world news outlet’s coverage of the Syrian conflict.

GlobalPost's website and Twitter account were hacked over a one-day period, according to the media organization.

The hackers claimed to have taken down the publication’s website and substituted the message: “Think twice before you publish untrusted informations about Syrian Electronic Army (SEA). This time we shutdown your website and take down your Twitter account, the next time you will start searching for new job.”

Several similar notes popped up on GlobalPost’s Twitter feed.

GlobalPost officials said they never lost control of the site’s content but the hackers were able to take over the Twitter feed.

According to news organization, here is “the Sept. 3, 2013 GlobalPost story by correspondent Jeb Boone detailing a cyber war between the SEA and Anonymous that reportedly provoked the pro-Syria group's anger.”
