I reported on Wednesday about the top 10 tech skills and certifications that can help job applicants stand out, according to a recent Dice.com survey. That survey also reports that as of July 1, 48,993 jobs have been posted to the Dice Web site. Of those, 28,713 were full-time positions, 22,986 were contract positions, and 1,095 were part-time positions. The top locations for technology job openings were the Washington, D.C. and Baltimore metropolitan area, the Newark, N.J., area, Silicon Valley, Chicago and Los Angeles.

Technology jobs in the federal sector are in even greater demand. According to USAJobs, more than 100,000 IT-related job openings have been posted to the site within the past four weeks.
