Pete Tseronis plans to leave by Nov. 1, 2015.

The Energy Department's chief technology officer, Pete Tseronis, is leaving his post to join the private sector, according to a blog post on LinkedIn.

Tseronis plans to leave by the end of October, he wrote.

Tseronis, who described himself as an "innovation advocator for the technology transfer and commercialization of intellectual property," has worked in the federal government for more than 24 years, most recently as Energy's CTO.

During his tenure in the government, Tseronis led the development of an innovation program for DOE's cyber technology, he wrote.

At the time of writing, a DOE spokesperson had not returned Nextgov's request for more information about the announcement.
