HHS On the Lookout for a Deputy CIO

The Department of Health and Human Service is looking for a new deputy chief information officer, according to a new posting on USAJobs.gov.
The deputy CIO, reporting directly to HHS CIO Frank Baitman, will work on projects related to cybersecurity, data efficiency, software licensing and cloud strategy, among other topics, according to the CIO's chief of staff, Catherine Peterson.
The position was vacated last month when Robert Foster left to serve as CIO for the Navy.
According to the job description, HHS' deputy CIO will also work with the department's chief financial officer to monitor the information systems collecting financial data and would also "evaluate the performance of IT in support of program accomplishments based on appropriate measures."
He or she would also assess current and emerging technology projects and their management, the posting said.
HHS is collecting applications until Aug. 6 for the position, which nets between $121,965 and $183,300 a year.
The posting recommends candidates have degrees in computer science, engineering, information science, business, technology management or equivalent IT experience.
