Top Tech Skills for 2013

The unemployment rate for technology professionals was 3.5 percent in the first quarter of 2013, and clearly, IT pros with certain experience are in high demand. What skills are hiring managers most looking for?

A new analysis by Dice.com found that Java is the top skill hiring managers are searching for, followed by C#, C++, .NET, Javascript and programming language Ruby On Rails.

Dice looked at searches made by hiring managers on its Open Web sourcing tool, which creates profiles on tech skills based on public information available in nearly 50 social and professional networks.

The three main technologies used by web developers – HTML, Javascript and CSS – also were top searches made by hiring managers. Web developers have just a 1 percent unemployment rate, making their skills hard to find, Dice noted.

Other top skill searches made by hiring managers were: SAP, Oracle, Linux, sales, project management, Python and IOS or iPhone, Dice found.
