Navy: Global Hawk drone crashes in Maryland

Incident occurred during a training exercise.

An RQ-4A Global Hawk drone crashed on Maryland’s Eastern Shore on Monday during a training flight, the Associated Press reports.

The $46 million aircraft is one of five acquired from the Air Force Global Hawk program that support more than half of maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance systems, according to the report. The vehicles have been used to support the Fifth Fleet, based in Bahrain.

There were no injuries to civilians or property damage. The cause of the crash is being investigated, officials said.
