The agency wants to become a “data-driven” organization.

The Postal Service is looking for a new analytics platform to help it predict future events.

The agency recently posted a request for information on a unified “Advanced Analytic Capability Platforms” that could be deployed throughout various divisions within organization.

Last year, USPS created an Advanced Analytics division, whose main goals are to use predictive modeling techniques and identify “patterns that cannot be detected otherwise.”

The agency is also examining machine-learning algorithms, according to the RFI.

Vendors would provide a centralized software platform for data analytics, the RFI said.

USPS declined to provide more detail about specific applications of data analytics within the organization, including whether it plans to use the system to manage internal logistics such as package delivery.
