How the state of Connecticut does more with open data.

Tyler Kleykamp believes we're all data people, regardless of our coding or technology skills.

As Connecticut’s chief data officer, Kleykamp spearheaded the open data movement in his state.

The effort began as a way to explore how businesses received state money through tax credits, loans and grants. By opening up the data, it came to light that these lending practices were beneficial to the state of Connecticut.

To continue develop better policies and measure the outcome of programs, Kleykamp insists open data technology is key.

"We’re going to consistently be asked to do more with less, in government." he said. "We have to find ways to be efficient to be more effective."
