Mapping $641M in classroom technology

Under the 2009 American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the Education Department doled out $641 million to states for education technology grants. According to the Department of Education, the grants will "enable districts to acquire new and emerging technologies, create new, state-of-the- art learning environments, and offer new training and more support for teachers so that students acquire the technological skills they will need to compete in a global economy."

Not surprising, California received the largest amount ($71.6 million), followed by Texas ($59.5 million) and New York ($55.6 million). Northwest states received the smallest grants. States will disburse the money to schools and school districts as they see fit.
