S.F. mayor convinces IT administrator to hand over city network passwords

San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom met with jailed IT administrator Terry Childs in a clandestine mission on Monday, convincing him to hand over the administrative passwords to the city's multimillion-dollar wide-area network. The mayor's move ended a highly publicized standoff during which Childs essentially held the majority of the city's FiberWAN network hostage.
