The U.S. government made more than 4,600 requests to Google to hand over user data in the second half of 2010, more than twice as many requests as the next highest-requesting nation, according to a transparency report from the search giant.
The UK, France, India and Brazil were the only other countries to break 1,000 requests.
The report was first pointed out by The Hill's technology blog Hillicon Valley.
Google complied with 94 percent of the U.S. requests, according to the Google report, the highest compliance percentage of any nation listed.
Google also removed more than 1,000 items from Google Groups following court orders in a defamation suit, the company said.
