Defense Secretary Robert Gates named on Tuesday David Wennergren as the assistant deputy chief management officer in the Office of the Deputy Secretary of Defense.
Wennergren previously served as deputy assistant secretary of defense, information management, integration and technology - also known as the deputy chief information officer. Gates plans to eliminate the information integration and technology office as part of an effort to cut $100 billion from the defense budget during the next five years.
Wennergren will work with Elizabeth McGrath, the deputy chief management officer.
