The Defense Department will host more than 200 high school students throughout February as part of its information technology job shadow day, the agency announced Wednesday. This is Defense's fifth time participating in the program, which is designed to recruit the next generation of federal IT workers.
The program, administered in partnership with the Federal CIO Council, is designed to give students a unique opportunity to observe the federal IT work world and learn about the challenging IT careers within Defense, the department said. It also allows students to discuss job opportunities with IT professionals and participate in hands-on demonstrations that highlight the important IT work the department does.
On Thursday afternoon, 50 students will be hosted by Army, Air Force and the Defense Chief Information Office at the Pentagon. The students will be divided into groups and will spend the day with one of several Defense components and agencies.
