Video: How to Solve an Open Data Problem

The first installment in our video collaboration with Socrata on open data.

With increasingly widespread use of big data and open data, numbers seem like the solution to all problems. Waldo Jaquith, director of U.S. Open Data Institute, however, feels that open data has a long way to go.

"I think those of us who are in the practice of producing open data have gotten a little smug, a little self-congratulatory about our work." Jaquith said. "There's going to be a time not far off from now that the work that we're doing now will look very crude." 

So, how do we solve the problems around open data? One way, Jaquith says, is for more government buy-in on all levels.
